The
Division of Computer and Network Systems (CNS) ,
under the Computer
and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Directorate of the
National Science
Foundation (NSF) along with the Computer Science Department of
University of California Santa Barbara is organizing
a one and half day workshop "The Science of Cloud Computing".
The purpose of this workshop is to bring Principal Investigators who have been supported by the CISE Directorate in a workshop setting to collectively develop a vision for the Science of Cloud Computing for the next decade. The intent of this workshop is to focus on the following topics:

- Network Support for the Cloud
- Data Portability, Consistency, and Management
- Programming Models for the Cloud
- Fault Masking in the Cloud
- Cloud Security, Privacy, and Auditing
- Cloud Debugging, Certification, and Update

Participation to this workshop is by invitation only. The organizers expect the invited guests to attend the entire duration of the workshop. No further registration is
required for the invited guests. In the unlikely event of an invitee being unable to attend due to an unforeseen circumstance, please inform the workshop chairs as soon as
possible.
The organizers, with funds from NSF, will reimburse the travel expenses of the invited attendees in an amount that does not exceed USD 1,000.
The participants should make their travel and accommodation arrangements and will get reimbursed through UCSB/NSF. A guideline for the reimbursement procedures can be found here.

This one and half day workshop will be held at the Waterview Conference Center,
1919 North Lynn Street, Arlington, VA 22209. Just four miles from Ronald Reagan National Airport and 25 miles from Washington Dulles International
Airport, the Waterview Conference Center is located in the heart of the National Capital Area. It sits in the center of Rosslyn, Virginia’s new
commercial and residential district, while being only a 10-minute walk away from the historic neighborhood of Georgetown – one of Washington’s
most storied neighborhoods.
The conference center does not provide for accommodation. However, the conference center is surrounded by a contemporary mix of retail and dining options.
The participants are responsible for making their own travel and accommodation arrangements. A list of conveniently located hotels are provided below.

From Reagan National Airport (Approximately 4 miles/10 minute drive)
Head north on National Airport Access Rd toward National Airport Access Rd/Smith Blvd. Take the ramp onto George Washington Memorial Pkwy N. Take the exit on the left toward Arlington Blvd. Take the exit toward Rosslyn and finally turn right at N Lynn St (signs for Rosslyn.)
From Dulles International Airport (Approximately 25 miles/35 minute drive)
Head east on Saarinen Circle. Then take a slight left at Dulles Access Rd E/Hirst Brault Expy E (signs for Washington). Take the exit onto I-66 E. Take exit 73 to merge onto US-29. Turn right at Fort Myer Dr. Turn left at 19th St N and finally turn left at N Lynn St. Your destination will be on the right.
Parking The parking garage for the Waterview Conference Center is located on 19th Street on the left-hand side. The garage entrance is to the adjacent to the Hotel Palomar entrance. Parking is $10 per day if you arrive before 9 AM and $15 per day if you arrive after 9 AM.
Valet parking is also available for $8 for 3 hours and $16 for 3-6 hours at the Hotel Palomar. Overnight valet parking is $30 Sunday-Thursday and $18 Friday-Saturday. In the garage, take the elevators labeled “Office Elevators,” located towards the back of
the garage to Level 1. If you choose to valet at the hotel, walk to the corner of 19th Street and North Lynn Street and take a right on to North Lynn Street. The Waterview Conference Center entrance is
located one half block down on your right in the Corporate Executive Board building.
As an alternative, there are several nearby public garages that are also available, with rates ranging from $9 to $20 all day or with the ability to pay by the hour.
Please note that while the physical address for the Waterview Conference Center is 1919 North Lynn Street, the center's primary parking garage is located on 19th Street. Driving to the physical address of the Waterview Conference Center will lead you directly into D.C. and does not present an immediate opportunity for turning around.
Metro Directions Orange and Blue Lines—Take the orange or blue lines to the Rosslyn station, and exit the East side on North Moore Street between 19th Street and Wilson Boulevard. Walk approximately 1 block North on Fort Myer Drive. Turn right on 19th Street North. Walk approximately 1 block Northeast on 19th Street North. Turn left on North Lynn Street. Walk a short distance North on North Lynn Street.
